Unconfirmed reports say that Puntland President, Said Abdullahi Deni, is scheduled to travel to Mogadishu this month, most probably on the 18th of April, 2020.

Earlier, in the aftermath of Puntland Consultative Conference last month, the President had indicated his intention to visit Mogadishu for talks with the leaders of Federal Government and Federal Member States to pave the way for a Puntland proposal on a wider consultative Conference by all stakeholders of the Somali State.

From therein ensued a controversy on the objectives of the President’s announcement, given the strong language used in the final communique of Garowe Consultative Conference with regards to the relationships between Puntland Government and current leaders of the FGS. Spokesmen of Puntland Administration sought to clarify their position a number of times on the controversy.

It is still unclear whether all the leaders of FMSs would join President Deni in Mogadishu as it is known that Jubaland President, Ahmed Madoobe, has equally bad relations with Mogadishu Federal Administration.

TOP STORIES The ‘Hardest, Saddest’ Days Ahead With the U.S. coronavirus death toll nearing 10,000 people yesterday, Surgeon Gen. Jerome Adams warned that the coming week will be “the hardest and saddest of most Americans’ lives.” He likened the projected loss of life to “our Pearl Harbor moment, our 9/11 moment.” He was not alone in that assessment. Around a third of people analysed who were critically ill with Covid-19 were from black, Asian or minority ethnic (BME) backgrounds. Of 2,249 critically ill coronavirus patients analysed by the Intensive Care National Audit and Research Centre (ICNARC), more than 30% were from BME backgrounds, compared to 64.8% white. A total of 13.8% were Asian, 13.6% were recorded as black and 6.6% described themselves as other. Researchers say they want to find out more about the worrying trend (Picture: PA) BME communities represent around 13% of the UK population according to the 2011 census. Puntland is not Coronavirus-free, according to discrete information obtained by Warsame Digital Media. There are at least two persons now suffering from the virus in Garowe alone, based on the information provided by people, who are familiar with the infected persons. These sick individuals aren’t in isolation and still are at large. The probability is that there could be more people with similar infections. But, nobody knows for sure how many others are out there as there is no capability in Puntland Health Sector to test people for Coronavirus infections.
It looks, therefore, that people within the Somali diaspora know better who is suffering from the deadly virus among their family members, relatives and friends here at home in Somalia.

This news reminds me of a recent interview by Burundi Health Minister, who had stated that the reason why Burundi didn’t have a single person reportedly infected was that Burundi didn’t have test kits to gauge into the existence of infected persons. That statement obviously holds the truth here too.

People should stay at home to avoid public gathering and often wash hands.

There are renewed clan and political conflicts within, on the one hand, and politically motivated interference by the Federal Government to unseat Ahmed Madoobe, exploiting the political dispute resulting from recent Jubaland election, in which Ahmed Madoobe claimed the presidency for the 3rd time, on the other hand.

Recent reports allege that there were political reconciliation efforts to bring Ahmed Madoobe, Seeraar and Xidig together on terms unknown outside the Federal Government and the leaders of Somali origin in Kenya.

Some reports indicate that there were Federal Government intrigues to depose Madoobe under secret talks, while keeping up military pressure in Gedo Region to squeeze Madoobe into a corner and up against the wall to resign.

Whatever the reports may say, there is no doubt that Madoobe is in trouble and fighting for his survival.

–  اداره مركزية لدعم و ادارة الخدمات ما بين مختلف النظم في شبكة بلاد واحدة.

–  معرف نظام امين و موثوق به لتمكين خدمات والمعاملات الخاصة بالتوثيق لقوات الامن الصوماليه الوطنية

Rape, robbery and mobile phone snatching re-start in certain quarters of Garowe, Puntland. These are happening over-nights, despite security crackdown following the recent suicide bomb-blast in which the Governor of Nugaal, AbdiAsis Gujir, was assassinated.

Fornight ago a woman and mother was gang-raped, and knived in the vinicity of Olympic Shopping Mail in Hanti-Wadaag area..

A young man by the name of AbdiAsis, had reported to his family members, a robbery of his mobile phone by two men under a gun-point. Both robbers were armed with rifles. This robbery incident took place in the same area around Olympic Shopping Mall.

Unfortunately, victims are reluctant to report such serious incidents to the police and other security services. This culture of silence has complicated the bad security situations in urban centres of Puntland.

Commanding Officers of the Police, Drawiishta and other security services should draw up a list of their rank-and-fille every night to sort out who are away with their arms, while they arn’t on active duties, to dispel the public perception that rogue elements of the security forces were involved in these violences and lawlessness in towns.
