“Ahmed Hussen has been promoted to Minister of Families, Children and Social Development.
This new portfolio represents over 1/3 of all of Canadian Government spending every year and is the fourth largest government ministry with over 24,000 employees!
He will be the leader of a strong team of Ministers, supported by the Minister of Labour, Minister of Seniors, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development & Disability Inclusion.
This new role is in charge of but not limited to:
- CMHC which is the largest Crown corporation in terms of assests)
- All Housing including Affordable Housing
-Canada Child Benefit
- Social innovation including funding social
enterprise for the first time in Canada
- Old age income security
And much more!
This portfolio will play a leading role in delivering on major campaign commitments made by the Liberal Party to make life better for all Canadians in the areas of affordable housing and supporting families. We wish Ahmed Hussen and his team the best of luck in delivering these goals”.
