Embarking upon building public institutions that can withstand the periodical shocks of sub-clan rivalry and influence peddling interest groups is the only way to re-envigorate and re-dedicate Puntland into a sustainable statehood.
Transparency and public accountability can only be assured under checks and balance of power.
Predictability and publicly known standards of governance and fair arbitration of conflicting interests restore trust and confidence in the system. That is the way forward for Puntland and rest of Somalia.
It is easier to say that than done, but, by trying to aim at achieving higher standards of resources and public management, peaceful and sustainable development has chance to develop roots in that troubled country.
Board-room and kitchen-cabinet management of public affairs is surely a recipe for disaster.
