RAPE AND ROBBERY IN GAROWE AGAIN.

Rape, robbery and mobile phone snatching re-start in certain quarters of Garowe, Puntland. These are happening over-nights, despite security crackdown following the recent suicide bomb-blast in which the Governor of Nugaal, AbdiAsis Gujir, was assassinated.

Fornight ago a woman and mother was gang-raped, and knived in the vinicity of Olympic Shopping Mail in Hanti-Wadaag area..

A young man by the name of AbdiAsis, had reported to his family members, a robbery of his mobile phone by two men under a gun-point. Both robbers were armed with rifles. This robbery incident took place in the same area around Olympic Shopping Mall.

Unfortunately, victims are reluctant to report such serious incidents to the police and other security services. This culture of silence has complicated the bad security situations in urban centres of Puntland.

Commanding Officers of the Police, Drawiishta and other security services should draw up a list of their rank-and-fille every night to sort out who are away with their arms, while they arn’t on active duties, to dispel the public perception that rogue elements of the security forces were involved in these violences and lawlessness in towns.
