Members of Puntland delegates from Mogadishu to the recent Puntland Consultative Conference have been conducting a series of meetings and held a press conference in Garowe, following the conclusion of the Conference. While they were free to express their opinions on the outcome of the Conference, it appears they were in conflict with their status as invited Puntland delegates. They were acting as members of a Federal delegation to Puntland to conduct talks with Puntland Government. That position goes contrary to Puntland’s invitation extended to them as Puntland’s delegates to the Conference.
By their own political activities here, they have been exacerbating Puntland difficulties and concerns in working with the leaders of the Federal Government in Mogadishu.
Speaking for the Federal Government, these ministers were expected to play diplomacy and softpower to win over the people and leaders of Puntland. Instead, they have embarked upon acusations and undiplomatic approach to criticize the outcome of the Conference, whatever valid reasons they might have had for being unsatisfied with Congress final communique.
Farmaajo Administration would be better advised to recall these ministers before they do more harm than good in bilateral relationships urgently needed to fix
