At Saliid makeshift military encampment in Sanaag Mtns in an offensive against militants of Al-Itihaad Al-Islami led by Hassan Dahir Aweys then, 1992-1993. This picture was taken by late Ambassador, Yusuf Mohamed Ismail “Baribari’. Because of this camp hardship conditions, Abdullahi Yusuf, the late President of Somalia, developed liver infection, leading to his liver transplant in Crownwell Hospital in London, UK, in 1995.

Three years later, after a successful liver transplant, Mr Yusuf became a leading founder and president of Puntland State of Somalia in 1998, and later, the president of the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia in 2004.
